Can vices make us poor?
Will bad habits lead us to poverty?
Can they ruin our wealth and riches?
The answer is Yes.
Vices such as drunkenness and gluttony will make us poor.
Proverbs 23:20-21 (NIV)
Do not join those who drink too much wine
or gorge themselves on meat,
for drunkards and gluttons become poor,
and drowsiness clothes them in rags.
Going with prostitutes can also destroy finances.
Proverbs 29:3 (NIV)
A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father,
but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
Laziness and mere talking without working also lead to poverty.
Proverbs 14:23 (NIV)
All hard work brings a profit,
but mere talk leads only to poverty.
And anyone who loves pleasures will become poor.
Proverbs 21:17 (NIV)
He who loves pleasure will become poor;
whoever loves wine and oil will never be rich.
Finally, these vices can also damage our health, and can charge us medical bills.
Psalm 38:3 (NIV)
Because of your wrath there is no health in my body;
my bones have no soundness because of my sin.
