Does God Exist? Is there a God?

Is there a God? Does God exist? What are the evidences that a Divine Creator exists?

Yes there is a God who truly exists – a God who is the Creator of the Universe. The evidences are very clear – clear as the sun, the moon and stars we see in the skies. From the largest objects that exist (planets, stars, galaxies, black holes) to the smallest objects or particles that subsist (cells to molecules, molecules to atoms, atoms to nucleus and electrons, and nucleus to protons and neutrons), there is a design. If design exists, then a designer exists. The design of the Universe is supremely intelligent. And when a supremely intelligent design exists, a supremely intelligent designer exists. That supreme designer is God.

Psalm 19:1 (NIV)
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

The Book of Job, which was approximately written more than 3,000 years ago, already gave us the astronomical picture of how our planet Earth hangs perfectly on the space.

Job 26:7 (NIV)
He spreads out the northern skies over empty space;
he suspends the earth over nothing.

The vastness of the skies, the magnificence of the mountains, the beauty of the flowers, and the complexity of human life –they are impossible for humans to create. Their creation and existence proves God’s eternal and divine qualities as the designer and the builder. We cannot deny those things for we can clearly see them. They are the hard evidences that God exists.

Romans 1:20 (NIV)
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

God exists and His Spirit exists. Since the Holy Spirit resides in our body, we are the clear evidence on the existence of the Holy Spirit of God.

1 Corinthians 6:19 (NIV)
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

When God’s Spirit dwells in a person, the following manifestations are clear:

Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

On the other hand, when the Holy Spirit doesn’t reside on a person, the following appearances are apparent:

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Another evidence that the Spirit of God exists is the existence of guilt and conscience. The Holy Spirit of God convicts a person in regard to sin, righteous and judgment.

John 16:8 (NIV)
When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment:

But how come there are still many people who don’t believe in the existence of God? The reason is that these people cannot understand spiritual and heavenly things.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NIV)
The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

John 3:12 (NIV)
I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?

Psalm 53:1 (NIV)
The fool says in his heart,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, and their ways are vile;
there is no one who does good.

Moreover, these people don’t believe in God because they don’t know God.

Romans 10:14-15 (NIV)
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!

But why does God don’t just appear to us face to face and announce to us that He exists? The reason is He wants us to be faithful.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
