How to control your temper, madness and anger?
A direct and simple answer would be is…to have self-control.
Then another answer would be is…. to have gentleness.
Then to have patience…then kindness…then joy and love.
But how can we have these great virtues?
These virtues are the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,self-control. Against such there is no law.
And how can we make the Spirit of God dwell with us?
As it is written, we are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God resides in us.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 (NKJV)
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
Therefore we must keep away from things which are the works of flesh, which will destroy ourselves.
Galatians 5:16-21 (NKJV)
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
To assure that the Spirit of God will be with us, we must obey His commandments and accept His corrections. We must know and understand the Words of God, which are written in the Holy Scriptures.
Turn at my rebuke;
Surely I will pour out my spirit on you;
I will make my words known to you.
We must not grieve the Holy Spirit of God. We must eradicate bitterness, wrath, anger and lies. We must be kind and gentle to one another. We must forgive each other.
Ephesians 4:30-32 (NKJV)
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
We must not quench the Holy Spirit
1 Thessalonians 5:19 (NKJV)
Do not quench the Spirit.
We must be attentive to the Words of God. We should be quick listeners, gentle speakers, and become lovers instead of haters.
James 1:19-21 (NKJV)
So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Finally, we must not only hearers or readers of the words of the Lord – His commandments, instructions and teachings. We must be doers of them.
James 1:22-25 (NKJV)
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
