How to find the right woman to marry?

This article is not just for men, it is also for women. For single guys, it aims to guide them in searching the right woman to be their wives. For single ladies and married woman, it hopes to teach them how to transform their selves to become a woman who is worthy of a righteous husband. Now let’s go and enlighten ourselves with the subject matter

First of all, our Lord says that it is better for a man to stay unmarried so that we can fully serve Him. But the Lord, who is just and understanding, doesn’t want us to sin and fall into sexual immorality. That’s why our Lord wants us to have our own wife before we fall into sinning.

1 Corinthians 7:1-2 (New King James Version)
Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me:
It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.

1 Corinthians 7:6-9 (New King James Version)
But I say this as a concession, not as a commandment. For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that.

But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am; but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

Now, to find the right woman for us to marry and become our own wife, the Lord has provided us the following comprehensive guidelines in the book of Proverbs. The following verses will also guide women in transforming and aligning their selves to excellent wives whom are described by the Holy Scriptures.

Proverbs 31:10-31 (New King James Version)
The Virtuous Wife
Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
She seeks wool and flax,
And willingly works with her hands.
She is like the merchant ships,
She brings her food from afar.
She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.
She considers a field and buys it;
From her profits she plants a vineyard.
She girds herself with strength,
And strengthens her arms.
She perceives that her merchandise is good,
And her lamp does not go out by night.
She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hand holds the spindle.
She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of snow for her household,
For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
She makes tapestry for herself;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them,
And supplies sashes for the merchants.
Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
“ Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”
Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.

A good wife is one who brings honor to her husband and not shame instead.

Proverbs 12:4 (New King James Version)
An excellent wife is the crown of her husband,
But she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.

We should avoid a woman who is unfaithful, ill-tempered and keeps on arguing our righteous decisions.

Proverbs 21:9 (New King James Version)
Better to dwell in a corner of a housetop,
Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.

Proverbs 25:24 (New International Version)
Better to live on a corner of the roof
than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

Proverbs 19:13 (New King James Version)
A foolish son is the ruin of his father,
And the contentions of a wife are a continual dripping.

We should look for a prudent wife, whom is a gift from God. We should not also make material wealth as our bases in looking for the right woman to marry.

Proverbs 19:14 (New King James Version)
Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers,
But a prudent wife is from the LORD.

A righteous wife is one who shows respect to her husband.

Ephesians 5:33 (New King James Version)
Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

We should look for a woman who can give us the love and care that are due to us.

1 Corinthians 7:3 (New King James Version)
Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband.

1 Corinthians 7:4 (New King James Version)
The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

The woman who can provide a joyful and harmonious marriage is one who has respect, humility and not pride. She is the one who fears the Lord and obey His commandments. She is a woman who is faithful and submits herself to the love and righteousness of her husband.

Ephesians 5:22-23 (New King James Version)
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.

  • Note and Disclaimer: We usually use the New International Version (NIV) and New King James Version (NKJV) versions of the Bible. However, we also recommend our readers to do their own research and use other reliable translations, for them, to be able to discern what is fully accurate and truthful from what is not.
