How to have a good name and a good reputation? If you want to have a good name, you must never forget God’s teachings and commandments. You must keep them as part of your whole life. This is because they lead us to wisdom and understanding. Wisdom and understanding make our body a manifestation of discipline, righteousness, strength and power. They teach us to walk on the right ways, giving us enduring wealth and prosperity. This prosperity makes us fruitful and generous.
God’s commandments are based on love – love for God and love for our neighbors. They preserve and promote morality, unity, peace and harmony. Consequently, the public will befriend us.
God’s teachings, instructions and commandments keep us away from blame and sins. That is why we must not forget them. Instead, we must always follow and apply them in everything we do. Because… they give us good name and they protect our integrity and reputation here on Earth and in Heaven.
Proverbs 3:1-4 (NIV)
My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you prosperity.
Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
The Wisdom of God keeps us away from doing evils and vices – gluttony, drunkenness, sexual immorality, murder, lying, et cetera. With the self-discipline it teaches, it prevents diseases. With the diligence and knowledge it gives, it avoids poverty. With the humility it gives, it evades blame and shame. And with the love and kindness it promotes, it will bring us greatness, joy and peace.
