What is True Happiness? How can we obtain fullness of Joy?
True Happiness or Joy is a fruit of the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
The Spirit of God is poured to the ones who obey His commandments and delight in His corrections.
Turn at my rebuke;
Surely I will pour out my spirit on you;
I will make my words known to you.
When we live in the Spirit, let us walk in the Spirit. We must avoid pride, hatred and envy to another.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
We must walk in the Spirit in contrast to the lust and works of the flesh. In other words we must be spiritual rather than material.
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
True happiness comes with the presence of the Lord.
You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
We can obtain true happiness and full joy by hearing and receiving the words, the testimonies, and wisdom of God. His words are written in the Bible, and you can hear them from the ones who are truly sent by God who preached the Words.
1 Kings 10:8
Happy are your men and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!
Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever,
For they are the rejoicing of my heart.
But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves.
Your words were found, and I ate them,
And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart;
For I am called by Your name,
O LORD God of hosts.
“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
This happiness is not a fruit of wickedness and foolishness which falls short, but the result of righteousness that last forever.
“Do you not know this of old,
Since man was placed on earth,
That the triumphing of the wicked is short,
And the joy of the hypocrite is but for a moment?
The hope of the righteous will be gladness,
But the expectation of the wicked will perish.
This joy comes from the heart.
Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous;
And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
For he will not dwell unduly on the days of his life, because God keeps him busy with the joy of his heart.
It may come out from our lips and from our soul also. So why not sing a song for the Lord?
My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You,
And my soul, which You have redeemed.
This happiness comes from people who bring peace.
Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,
But counselors of peace have joy.
We can have great Joy in believing and worshipping the Lord.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We can also ask and pray for this to the Lord.
Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
True happiness does not cease even in times of trials and troubles.
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
Togetherness, more than calling, text messaging, writing, also completes joy.
Finally, true happiness comes from true love, which is God’s love, which rejoices in the truth (please read our article about What is True Love?).
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NKJV)
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
